Rumblings of your stomach can be heard by your neighbors next door. The desire is overwhelming. Your finger movements are becoming unpredictable as you frantically scroll through EatStreet’s online food court. What you are experiencing is a Foodie Call and it is completely normal. Being a frequenter of the Foodie Call myself, I am here to provide you with some tips to ensure you have a safe and effective Foodie Call experience. Follow these kernels of advice, and you’ll be well on your way to a saucy romance with a pizza or a spicy love affair with a burrito.

  1. Have a plan. Be safe and plan ahead. The best way to do this is by favoriting great dishes from each restaurant on EatStreet. Items you have ordered in the past are automatically added to your favorites, and you can remove them at any time. Managing your favorites is an easy way to streamline your Foodie Call, helping you avoid any repeat offenders you may have not enjoyed.

  1. Take a risk. Part of the thrill of a great Foodie Call involves taking a risk. EatStreet lets you know each restaurant’s most frequently ordered items, just in case you need extra guidance.

  1. Be honest about your needs. If you are experiencing a late night Foodie Call, chances are you have already experienced the “Oh crap, I’m really hungry!” feeling we are all too familiar with. At this point, there isn’t much time before your hunger rages out of control; pick something that will come quickly. On the other hand, if you’ve managed to make your decision before this feeling hits, take a stab at something you know takes a bit longer to get there. Sometimes it really is worth the wait, but be honest with yourself.

  1. Keep your digits current. All too often, a good Foodie Call goes awry because the delivery driver can’t contact the patron. Keeping that phone info accurate and your phone charged will help you avoid extended delivery times or missing your order altogether. Be smart: plug it in.

  1. Don’t fall asleep. It is important that you are awake when the delivery driver arrives with your food. If you’ve managed to get this far, you aren’t out of the woods yet. I’ve witnessed many of my friends fall asleep with their take out box propped up on their stomach, fork in hand. This is just downright embarrassing. Don’t fret though, many Foodie Calls are still good the next morning.

Hopefully these suggestions help you have more successful Foodie Calls in the future. Have a great story about a Foodie Call? We’d love to hear it. Send it to foodiecall@eatstreet.com or fill out the form below to be featured.

And if you’re an EatStreet virgin, you should probably change that pretty soon…
