Top 5 Grilled Foods

The summer season is upon us. What better way to celebrate than by consuming some of the signature delicacies of summer? And what better way to prepare them than by grilling? While there are plenty of things that you can throw on a grill, we at EatStreet have decided to narrow down the list to a Top 5 collection of the very best grilled foods.

#5: Shish Kabobs. These provide you with the most options when grilling. You can either prepare them ahead of time, or each person can make their own using any combination of beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, veggies, fruit, and potatoes.  The possibilities are endless!

#4: Hot Dogs & Brats. What better food to cook on your grill than the staple of baseball games?  Not only are they decently priced, but they’re also easy to cook in large batches, allowing you to please a hungry crowd.  My personal favorite is a venison brat.

#3: Corn. Specifically, corn on the cob.  Grilled corn is especially delicious when you use farm-fresh sweet corn, but really any corn will do.  Just dump the whole cob on the grill and get cooking until the kernels have turned golden yellow.

#2: Potatoes. Grilled potatoes are a delicious addition to any meal, either as a standalone or as an addition to a recipe.  Their extra smoky flavor can do wonders for a potato salad, too.  Either wrap these bad boys in tin foil to keep the moisture in while grilling, or par-cook them in salted water first to prevent the outsides from burning while the insides cook.

#1: Steak. Easily a top choice for grilling. Few meat lovers would argue with a hunk of delicious grilled beef.  They might, however, disagree on the most desirable degree of doneness, but that’s neither here nor there.  Personally, I enjoy mine well-seasoned and somewhere between medium-rare and rare. (I’m a carnivore at heart.)
